I help English-speaking expats and their families in Panama secure the right health insurance and protection strategy, so that when life happens, your finances and your wellbeing stay protected.
My name is Gonzalo de la Guardia. I’m a health and life insurance advisor based in Panama, and I’ve spent over four decades helping families and expats navigate the healthcare and insurance system here.
I’ve been an expat myself — my family and I lived five years in Seattle — so I understand the stress of being in a new country, facing a new healthcare system and wanting to protect the people you love.
I combine deep knowledge of Panama’s healthcare system, hospitals and insurers with practical, real-world experience from hundreds of claims and hospitalizations. I know how things work when there is pressure, urgency and incomplete information — and I guide you through it.
Insurance can feel confusing. My job is to turn that complexity into simple, powerful decisions. I teach you to focus your dollars on what really matters:
I use clear comparisons and real scenarios so you feel: “Now I finally understand what I’m paying for — and why it makes sense.”
If you or a family member need to be hospitalized, I don’t just disappear behind a phone number.
“You focus on recovering your health. I’ll take care of the hospital paperwork and the insurance side.”
I show up, I support your family, I coordinate with the hospital and help manage the process so you can focus on what truly matters.
I speak your language and I understand your world. I ask where you are from, what brought you to Panama and what you want to protect. Because I’ve been an expat myself, you’re not just talking to a local agent — you’re talking to someone who has lived the same transition you’re living now.
When you need help, you don’t want to wait. My clients know they can reach me directly by WhatsApp or cell phone, and I respond quickly. Speed is peace of mind — especially in health matters.
I don’t “sell policies.” I design protection strategies. My goal is simple: when something serious happens, your plan works smoothly and covers what it’s supposed to cover — often at 100% for major events, depending on the plan we choose together.
My clients stay with me for years because they feel genuinely protected and accompanied. They often say:
We meet (in person or online) to understand your family, lifestyle, budget and risk tolerance. You share your questions; I listen and map out your real exposure.
I design a protection strategy and present clear options, comparing only high-quality plans that fit your needs. You decide with confidence, not pressure.
Once your plan is in place, you’re not alone. I’m available for questions, renewals, claims — and when necessary, I personally support you at the hospital.
